SOS HOPE 2016

           The SOS HOPE (Survival Of Sickest which will be achieved through Handling Office Pediatric Emergencies) was conducted in Nazareth Hospital on July 27th, 2016. The total number of participants were 31. Instructors for the workshop included Dr. Rashna Dass Hazarika, Dr. Hunsi Giri, Dr. Sourabh Gohain Duwarah, Dr. Sabrina Yesmin and Dr. Uma Ghosh. 

 

          SOS HOPE is one of the IAP action plans for the year 2016. It is hoped that pediatricians start showing a change in their behavior and practices by adopting the protocolized module in their day-to-day office practice. Keeping this in mind, the participants were taught about keeping oxygen in their office, using pulse oximetry regularly, transporting patients in ‘108’ Ambulance rather than their private vehicle, giving antibiotics in the first hour of shock (after collecting blood for culture), avoiding unindicated use of sodium bicarbonate, and so on.
