The Delegates at the Pediatric TB Module

           The Pediatric TB module was organized in Shillong by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Meghalaya state branch and RNTCP, Meghalaya. The programme was held at the state convention center on 27th February 2016.A total of 52 delegates attended the meeting. Officials of RNTCP including the state TB officer also attended the meeting.

           

           The lead instructor for the course was Dr.Sushil Kumar Kabra, Professor, Dept.of Pediatrics, AIIMS, New Delhi. The other instructors for the course were Dr.Santanu Deb, Consultant Pediatrics, Nazareth Hospital, Shillong and Dr. Sourabh Gohain Duwarah, Assistant Professor, Pediatrics.

           

           The meeting started at 2 pm with an inaugural speech by Dr. Sushil Kumar Kabra. The course extended over a period of 6 hours where all the facets of childhood Tb were covered.Dr.Sushil Kumar Kabra talked about the natural history of the disease. He also talked about TB diagnostics, Lymphnode TB, Neural TB diagnostics, monitoring of treatment, drug resistant TB and also prevention of Tuberculosis. Dr.Santanu Deb talked about Pulmonary TB diagnostics, Pleural TB diagnostics, Treatment of TB, Adverse events and on neonate of mother with TB.Dr.Sourabh G. Duwarah defined the magnitude of the problem of Tuberculosis, talked about Pulmonary TB diagnostics, abdominal TB diagnostics, bone and joint TB, Adjunctive therapy and TB-HIV.

 

Dr. Rangad, State TB Officer also addressed the meeting.

 

The meeting ended with a valedictory programme, certificate distribution and a dinner.
